If you follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or (our favorite) Instagram, (we’d love if you did), then you’ve noticed a couple additions to our bakery menagerie – little people! They’re a huge help around the bakery, both with working and keeping our spirits up. In all raw honesty, owning and running a business is as challenging and terrifying as it is exhilarating and rewarding, so I’m lucky to have a bakery wife who loves to play as much as me. On rough days, and even on easy days, we try and make a little time to snap a funny pic or just be generally playful with each other – we’ve found it’s much healthier than swigging coffee all day and taking no breaks at all.

The Littles renew their vows, and play with genders; we baked the cakes for their special day!
For those curious about the origin of the little people, they are vintage early 1980’s doll house dolls. Santa gave them to me, along with a great big dollhouse, when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Until the age of 14, I played with the dollhouse consistently, then I discovered music (punk) and extracurricular activities (boys).

The next time you order a cake from us for your special event, mention the Little People, and we’ll include a photo of them working hard on your cake! Speaking of cakes; our Cake of the Month for October is our Tiger Cake (pumpkin and chocolate marble cake with a chocolate or sweet, white frosting) – always vegan and always decadent.
